THE STORY
Doctors would have told her to rest. But she decided to make history.
January 28, 2017. Women’s final in Melbourne. A final unlike any before. Not because two sisters from Compton faced each other again, but because one of them was pregnant.
Eight weeks along, Serena Williams played the tournament as if it was just another day at the office. Calm, focused, unwavering.
No trace of hesitation, no sign that something extraordinary was happening.
Two weeks later, she held the trophy in her hands. Her 23rd Grand Slam title - and, though no one knew it then, her first as a mother-to-be. And the one that crowned her ultimately the Queen of Tennis.
THE DESIGN
On the front: numbers that became tennis history. 23 Grand Slam titles, won while 8 weeks pregnant.
On the back: a doctor’s prescription. His recommendation for early pregnancy symptoms: a Grand Slam title. Twenty-three of them, to be precise.
Bright White, finished with a clean screenprint on both sides.
